Cookies

TheGameCurator sets no tracking cookies. It uses two entries of browser storage, both listed below, and asks before anything optional is loaded.

Strictly necessary

  • tgc:consent — localStorage. Stores the choice you make in the banner so it is not shown on every visit. Cleared only by you.
  • tgc:curation — sessionStorage. Holds the answers to the questionnaire so a refresh or a step back does not lose them. Removed automatically when the tab closes.

These cannot be switched off: without them the app cannot remember your consent decision or carry your answers between the three steps.

Optional: anonymous analytics

Off by default. Nothing is loaded, and no identifier is generated, unless you turn this on. It is offered so that aggregate usage can be measured if the operator of this deployment ever enables it.

Optional: advertising

Where this deployment runs Google AdSense, the advertising category controls it. Off by default, and enforced at the source: the AdSense library is only added to the page once you allow it, so declining means your browser never contacts Google at all — no request, no cookie, no ad identifier.

Allowing it lets Google set cookies to measure and personalise ads under its own policies. You can withdraw the permission below at any time; the script is removed on the next page load.

Third-party requests

Loading the page also fetches fonts from Google Fonts and Fontshare, and store artwork from Steam's CDN. These are asset requests, not cookies, but they do reveal your IP address to those hosts in the ordinary way any embedded asset does.

Change your choice

Your current decision can be reset here at any time. Clearing it brings the banner back on the next page load.
